What is IN a comprehensive plan?The La Plata County Comprehensive plan will contain four components. First, a community vision encapsulating the common ground and aspirations of what the residents want the county to be in the future. Second, the comprehensive plan will be organized by thematic elements such as economy, transportation, environment, housing, transportation, etc. For each of these elements there are goals that describe broad purposes to achieve the vision. Third, each goal has strategies that outline the approach and/or the specific steps required to implement a goal. Finally, the future land use plan provides jurisdiction-wide land use classifications and a land use map that ties the vision, goals, and strategies together.
