GET INVOLVED

Do you care about your community and the future of La Plata County?  Then get involved in the Comprehensive Community Plan update!  The public involvement is designed to allow you to participate at many different levels. 

WHAT CAN YOU DO RIGHT NOW?
Join a Future Land Use Plan Focus Group! Focus Group participants are required to attend a series of 2 meetings, a Land Use Analyses Tools and Future Land Use Planning Charrette.  These groups will work during October and November to provide input to the Citizen’s Working Group who will incorporate community input into the Draft Future Land Use Plan. HOW ELSE CAN YOU HELP?
You can also:

• Participate in a Focus Group for defined issues such as agriculture, economy, natural resources, etc. 
• Attend Community Education Forums to learn more about issues and potential solutions.
• Look for our Comp Plan Kiosks at community events and locations around the county.  Stop by our table, talk to us, and pick up the latest information.
• Organize your own neighborhood to provide input and feedback on plan drafts.  We will give you all the supplies you need to run your own meeting.  Contact us for a Meeting in a Box.
• Send us your thoughts via email or a letter. 
• Keep up with us on Facebook or through the email distribution list.
• Help us get others involved by forwarding email updates to your network.
• Volunteer to help us with: publicity and outreach, organizing community education forums, involving youth, or facilitation.
